It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Larry Thomas of Fletcher, North Carolina, born in Catawba, North Carolina, who passed away on July 19, 2021, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Justin Luther and Doris Evelyn Day Thomas; his wife Rosa Marie Thomas; his son Larry Kent; and his great grandchild Nora.

He is survived by: his children, Stacy Duncan (Bruce) of Fletcher, Tracy Duncan (David) of Flat Rock, Scott Thomas (Becky) of Lenoir and Mark Thomas (Laura) of Hendersonville; and his sister Pat Layhue of Palm Bay, FL. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

“Larry means the world to me. I have so many memories of him connected with Bible Baptist Church in Asheville. My father was the founding pastor there, and not long after we began the church, Larry, Marie and their children joined our church, with Larry becoming both our song leader and youth leader. He always had a smile on his face (except for that day he caught Mark and me shooting hoops in the church gym when we were supposed to be elsewhere!). The whole Thomas family is very special to me.”
