He is survived by: his wife Mary Jo Whitaker; his son Marcus "Marc" Lee Whitaker of Fletcher; his siblings, Shirley Inscoe (Al) of Mooresville and Vollie Whitaker, Jr. (Carol) of Fletcher; his sisters-in-law, Kathy Dalton and Glenda Pearson; his nieces and nephews, Keith, Sherry, Laura, Lynette, Cliff, David and Jennifer; his great-nieces and great-nephews, Kayla, Cierra, Taylor, Kendra, Mabel, Lucy, Michael, Jonathan, Abbi, Quinton, Shelby, Anthony, Joseph, Jeannie, Andrew, Wesley, Finley and Brenna; and his close friend Wendell Wilkie.
