He was predeceased by: his siblings, Dale Barnette, Iris Staley and Rachel Jones. He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth Walker Barnette; his stepson Richard Lee Howell, Sr. (Rebecca) of Sparta, NC; his brother Earnest Barnette (Betty) of Clayton, NC; and his stepgrandchildren, Richard Lee Howell, Jr (Alicia) of Walnut Cove, NC, Sheila Howell (Rob) of Lexington, NC, Mackenzie Howell, Leah Howell, Dakato Howell and Megan Howell.
