He was predeceased by: his parents, Oscar David Johnson and Margaret Williamson Johnson; his wife Janice Fay Horne Johnson; and his siblings, Robert, David Johnson, Pauline Johnson, Martha Clippard, Sue Bush and Zelma Clippard.

He is survived by: his children, Cindy Welch (Steve), Darlene Simpson (David), Margaret Wooten, Eric Johnson and Tony Brown (Mary); and his siblings, Tilda Smith, Johnny (Judy) and Steve (Robin). He is also survived by two grandsons and two granddaughters; two great-granddaughters and four great-grandsons.
