He was predeceased by: his parents, Arvil Canter and Lillie Grace Hodgson Canter. He is survived by: his children, Jama Shepherd (Justin Greene) of Ferguson, Alisha Kirby (Scott) of Hudson, Janet Greer of Fleetwood and James Canter Jr. (Maureen); and his sister Reba Stanley (Stan) of Elkton Maryland. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
