He was predeceased by: his parents, Preston Cope and Bettie Cope; his former wife Rita Cope; his daughter Rima Cope Anderson; his grandson Rory Anderson; and his close friend Sheila Vannoy.
He is survived by: his children, Rhonda Washburn (Frank) of Oak Grove, MN and Robert J. Cope of Millington, MI; his sisters, Alice C. Black of Fayetteville and Laura C. McIntosh (Larry) of Fayetteville; his grandchildren, Michael Washburn of Minnesota, Risa Larson of Minnesota, Adam Cope of Minnesota, Breanna Washburn of Minnesota, David Washburn of Minnesota, Rain Anderson of Minnesota and Rylyn Anderson of Minnesota; his great grandchildren, Michael Washburn, Jr., Preston Nelson, Kennedy Larson, Milena Washburn, Cason Nelson and Cameron Larson; his nephew Doug McIntosh (Kay); and his niece Dawn Gillis (Robert) of Fayetteville.
