He is survived by: his wife Margaret Lantz Birke; his daughters, Kathryn Birke of Fayetteville, NC and Amy Birke Dean (Jerry) of Fayetteville, NC; his grandchildren, Curtis Dean of Fayetteville, NC and Elizabeth Dean of Wilmington, NC; his sister Betty Ann Packler of Holly Springs, NC; and his nephew Kevin Packler of Wake Forest, NC..
Visitation was held on Thursday, January 16th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM at the Haymount United Methodist Church (1700 Fort Bragg Rd, Fayetteville, NC 28303). A funeral service was held on Thursday, January 16th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Saturday, January 18th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Historic Daniels Lutheran Church Cemetery (3170 Reepsville Rd, Lincolnton, NC 28092).
