It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Mavis Starling of Fayetteville, North Carolina, who passed away on March 28, 2025, at the age of 98, leaving to mourn family and friends. As we bid farewell to this cherished soul, solace is taken in the memories held dear — the laughter shared, the wisdom imparted, the moments of quiet reflection in their presence. Though Mavis may no longer walk among us, her spirit lives on in the echoes of her kindness, the warmth of her embrace, and the light of her enduring love.
She was predeceased by: her parents, John Henry Ruffin and Dilcy Mae Williams Ruffin; and her grandson James Starling. She is survived by: her children, Robert Starling (Darlene), Vickie Todd (Carlton Harrison) and Dale Starling; her sister Doris Allen; and her grandchildren, Adena Buck, Jarrad Taunt (Kimberly), Gail Starling and Renee Starling. She is also survived by 11 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, April 1st 2025 from 12:30 PM to 1:20 PM at the Northwood Temple (4250 Ramsey St, Fayetteville, NC 28311). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, April 1st 2025 at 1:30 PM at the same location. A committal service was held on Tuesday, April 1st 2025 at 3:00 PM at the Lafayette Memorial Park (2301 Ramsey St, Fayetteville, NC 28301).
