He was predeceased by: his former wife Ina Jean Bailey Powell; his sisters, Dorothy McGee, Florence Brown and Betty Lou Cromartie; and his half-brother Ralph Powell.
He is survived by: his wife Ruby Madeline Powell; his children, Norman Powell (Chantelle) of Lumber Bridge, NC, Thomas Powell (Leah) of Milledgeville, GA and Frieda Powell Martin (David) of Melbourne, FL; his stepdaughters, Karen Deaner (Alan) and Linda Watring (Rodney); his grandchildren, Amanda Powell, Jennifer Powell, Jared Powell (Marie Claire), Rachel Powell, Sarah Martin Caswell (Mark), David Martin, Jr., Anna Martin, Caleb Martin, Trevor Hughes (Tori), Daniel Ryan Charpentier, Raissa Charpentier and Cara Allen; his stepgrandchildren, Keith Deaner, Mark Watring and Lori Watring; and his great grandchildren, Roman Powell, Luke Powell, Judah Caswell, Lilah Hughes, Lanie Hughes, Destiny Watring, Gabe Deaner and Toby Deaner.
