He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Petroutsa and Helen Petroutsa; and his sibling Peter Petroutsa. He is survived by: his fiancée Samruay Thomas; his cousins, John Heliotis of Arlington Virginia, Margaret, Panagiota Heliotis, Gabriel, Angelika Zoutis of Greece, Cathy, James, Lou Sakell of North Carolina, Mary Boosalis-Nagler of South Carolina, Nick, Demitris Boosalis of Virginia and Chris Boosalis of Maryland; and his friend Steve Paris.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church.
