He is survived by: his wife Dawn Barnett Mitchell; his daughters, Tomi Mitchell Lawrence of Cedar Island and Candace Mitchell of Morehead City; his stepchildren, Chrystal Gay of Farmville, Brandy Pierce of Havelock, Mary Mason of Ayden, Hannah Mason of Ayden and David Pierce of South Carolina; and his siblings, Teresa Mitchell Sullivan of New Bern and Dock Mitchell of Bayboro. He is also survived by sixteen grandchildren.
