He is survived by: his wife Barbara Tyler Hayes; his children, Susan, Lynn, Sandy, Gary, Lonnie and Chris; and his sister Linda Perry of Elm City. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude or the Shriners.
