He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Graham Ward and Georgia Lee Ward; his son Adrian Ward; and his sisters, Linda Ward Moore and Ethel Davis.

He is survived by: his siblings, Robert L. Ward of South Carolina, James L. Ward (Trish) of Carlisle, PA. and Mary Ward of Fountain, NC.; his extended family, Danny White of Rocky Mount, NC and Velma "Sally" Dixon of Fountain, NC.; his children, Anthony Tyson (Tanisha) of Connecticut, Tyrese Smith, Latonya Johnson (Jamel) of Maryland and Melody McKinney Cooper (Jamel) of Maryland; and also Thomiah Smith of Virginia.
