He was predeceased by: his wife Jessie Wood Cayton; his parents, Jesse Cayton and Myrtle Cayton; and his siblings, Thelbert, Curtis, Alvin Cayton, Peggy Potter, Ann Evans and Darnell Smith.
He is survived by: his siblings, William Cayton (Barbara) of Arapahoe, Jesse Cayton (Linda) of Bethel, Margaret Whaley of Clayroot, Linda Kirkman (Jim) of Vanceboro and Brenda Spear (Harold) of Vanceboro; and his stepson Earl DeCamp of New Bern. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
