She was loved and cherished by many people including: her husband Joseph Thomas Smith Jr.; her children, Juanita Myers (Fred) and Clifton Thomas Smith of Farmville; and her sister Hilda Nichols of Farmville. She was also cherished by five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
