Murphrey, Sr.; his wife Joanna Carraway Murphrey; his mother Cornelia M. Murphrey; his sons, Thomas Murphrey (Jamye) of Goldsboro and Kevin Murphrey (Jessica) of Raleigh; his grandson Rowan James Murphrey; his siblings, Durward R. Murphrey Jr, Neal Murphrey (Mollie), Kelly Murphrey (Wanda) and Donna Haggerty (Ed); and his sister-in-law Patsy Ransom. He is also survived by nephews and a niece.
