He was predeceased by: his parents, Johnnie Porter and Kathleen Porter; his brother Johnny Lee Porter; and his brother-in-law William Hill. He is survived by: his wife Margaret Strickland Porter; his children, Catherine Gonzalez (Lauro) of Farmville, Patricia Bullock (Bobby) of Wilson, Beverley Beddard (Gene) of Farmville and Danney Hair (Nancy) of Williamston; his siblings, Martha Hill of Kenly, Agnes Young of Gibonsville, Mattie Porter of Burlington, Judy Taylor of Burlington, Robert Porter of Burlington, Kenneth Porter of Burlington and Richard Porter of Panama City, FL; and his close friend Izzy. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren; twenty two great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; several special nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held on Sunday, January 26th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Farmville Funeral Home Chapel (4226 E Church St, Farmville, NC 27828).
