She was predeceased by: her parents, G. P. Oliver and Bessie Foster Oliver; her former husband Wilburn Smith; her husband Herbert Ernest Rice; and her brother Harold Dean Oliver.
She is survived by: her son Jim Smith (Lib) of Shelby; her granddaughter Tabbatha Pearson; her great grandchild Carmen Peterson (Tyler); her great great grandchild Brinleigh Peterson; her stepchildren, Johnny Rice (Cindy) of Spartanburg, SC, Rosemary Clark of Monroe, Nancy Staley (Joe) of Lincolnton and Donna Torsiello (Mel) of Schroon Lake, NY; and her siblings, Henry Oliver (Shirley) of Shelby, Lawrence Oliver (Nell) of Shelby, Jerry Oliver of Kings Mountain, David Oliver (Annie) of Kings Mountain, Ruby Ledford of Lawndale, Clara Crawford of Kings Mountain and Evelene Thompson of Kings Mountain. She is also survived by numerous step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.
