He was predeceased by: his parents, Stuart Register and Cora Register; and his siblings, Tommy Register, Major Forrest Register, Marjorie Hale and Merle Carlyle.
He is survived by: his wife Carol Norville Register; his daughter Samantha Oakes (Justin); and his grandchildren, Abby of Grifton, Lauren Brann of Grifton, Izzy of Grifton and Jase Oakes of Grifton.
In 2000, Sam was diagnosed with Parkinson's and retired a few years later.
