He was predeceased by: his parents, Junius Ray and Ethel Peeler McCombs; and his siblings, Willard Eugene McCombs, Edith Hollifield, Kaye Margaret Fisher and Gail Mahaffey.
He is survived by: his significant other Mary Ellen Jarrett McCombs; his daughters, Sheryl Lyerly of Rockwell, NC and Julie McCombs Blalock (Jeff) of Salisbury, NC; his sister Sue Teague (Gary) of Faith; his grandchildren, Ben Lyerly (Kelli), Megan Richardson (Nathan), Jarrett Blalock and Jamey Blalock (Nanci); his great grandchildren, Savannah and Ansley Lyerly; and his brother-in-law Norris "Cotton" Jarrett.
