He was predeceased by: his parents, Esther King Deaver and Johnnie Ivey Deaver; and his siblings, Rosemary Howard and Henry Deaver. He is survived by: his wife Nancy H. Deaver; his children, Sue Jones (Chris) and Johnny W. Deaver (Miranda); his grandsons, William Edwards, Johnny W. Deaver, Jr. and Matthew Tyler Deaver; his siblings, Ruth Esther DaYoung (Larry) of Roxboro, Betty Jean Blackman (Jerry Dale) of Garner, Joyce Pierce of Cary, Alice Thompson (Doug) of Morehead City and Charles "Buddy" Deaver (Faye) of Faison; and his siblings-in-law, Terri C. Deaver of Faison and Robert Howard of Raleigh. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
