He was predeceased by: his parent Nathan Carlyle; his wife Evelyn Smith Williams; and his brother Nathan Carlyle Williams. He is survived by: his parent Emma Thornton Williams; his daughter Teela W. Strickland; his husband Wayne "Junior" of Faison; his sister Dean Warren; his granddaughter Christina Starling; his great grandchild Hunter Starling; and his stepgrandchildren, Rebecca Watson and Jeffrey Coats.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Court, Goldsboro, N.C. 27534.
