She was predeceased by: her parents, Claude M. McKinney and Helen Elizabeth Story McKinney; her husband Frank Fay Smith, Jr.; and her brother Ernest Helton. She is survived by: her son Frank "Sonny" Fay Smith, III of Asheville; her siblings, Martha Goodman of Asheville, Naomi McKinney Sheldon of Swannanoa and Ray M. McKinney (Nora) of Asheville; and her sister-in-law Betty Helton of Asheville.
