He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Robert and Hilda Buckner Ownbey; and his siblings, Linda Ownbey Ebernickel, Rita Ann Laudenslager and Larry Ownbey.
He is survived by: his wife Sally Reed Ownbey; his children, Cheryl Ownbey Rector of Asheville and Christopher Alan Ownbey of Candler; his grandchildren, Megan Rector (Brannon Gann), Wayne Rector (Julie Moore), Jordan Ownbey, Annalisa Ownbey and Meliea Valle (Micha Hart); and his great grandchildren, Kyndall Rector, Braedyn Hicks and Parker Hicks.
