He was predeceased by: his parents, Arber Oxendine and Pearlie Oxendine; his siblings, Cullen Oxendine, Vardell Oxendine, Ardell Oxendine, Varcie Oxendine, James Wibert Oxendine, Charlie Ray Oxendine, Arber "Zonnie" Oxendine Jr., John Wesley Oxendine, Allie Ruth Oxendine, Eula Oxendine, Thelma Oxendine Citron and Velma Oxendine Robergh; and his children, Roy Chavis, Graylen Chavis, Richard Chavis and Pearline Oxendine.
He is survived by: his wife Lay Ruth Oxendine; and his children, RJ Oxendine, Jr. (Deborah), Cynthia Nealand (Raymond), Sue Jones and Melissa Branch (Danny). He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
