With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Berta Mae Chavis of Fairmont, North Carolina, who passed away on March 26, 2022 at the age of 86. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Ranford Oxendine and Pearlie Hunt Oxendine; her daughters, Janice Tillman and Pearlie Thomas; and her siblings, Lenwood Oxendine, Branford Oxendine, Annie Bell Tillman, Gertie Mae Lambert and Annie Vicky Hammonds.
She is survived by: her children, Gregory Oxendine (Kim) of Fairmont, Linda Hunt of Raynham, Kathy Carter of Rockhill, Deborah Lewis (Ralph) of Fairmont and Betty Clark (Jerry) of Fairmont; and her siblings, Elwood Oxendine of Fairmont, William Oxendine of Rowland, Lessie Mae Ledwell of Maxton, Letha Bartley of Fairmont and Retha Scott of Rowland. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren as well as a host of relatives and friends.
