He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph Gray, Sr. and Lilliam Cuthrell; his wife Bonnie Armstrong; his daughter Sylvia C. Willis; and his siblings, Charles A. Cuthrell, Willine C. Gibbs and Mollie Hopper.
He is survived by: his daughter Patricia C. Smith (Chuck) of Fairfield; his son-in-law John B. Willis; his grandchildren, Amy W. Jordan (T. J.) of Albemarle, Charles A. Bush of Manteo and Jarret T. Bush (Crystal) of Manteo; and his great grandchildren, Joshua Betka, Julie Marie Bush and Sarah Ann Bush.
