He was predeceased by: his parents, Jessie Z. Hinson and Sally Hester Hinson; and his brother Samuel "Sammy" Carlton Hinson. He is survived by: his wife Diana Hargrove Hinson; his sons, Joey Hinson of Lennon's Crossroads, Jami Hinson (Donna) of Whiteville and Jeffrey Hinson of Lennon's Crossroads; and his grandchildren, Madison H. Baucom (Taylor), William T. Hinson (Maddie), Jessie Hinson and Jacob Hinson.
