He was predeceased by: his parents, William Ozzly Johnson and Rena Leggett Johnson; his wife Beth Shaw Johnson; and his siblings, Leggett Johnson, Tom Johnson and Bill Johnson.
He is survived by: his children, Meribeth J. Nye (Benny Jr.) of Lake Waccamaw and Jerry L. Johnson, II of Evergreen; his grandchildren, Trey Nye (Lauren), Chase Nye (Savannah), Colt Johnson (Taylor) and Ozzly Johnson (Larramie); his great grandchildren, MaryElla Grace Nye and Aubrey Paige Nye; and his siblings, Grey J. Pearce of Winston Salem and Sondra J. Merritt (Tyrone) of Whiteville.
