He was predeceased by: his parents, John Robert and Helen Piland Howell; his siblings, Doris Umphlett and Robert Taylor Howell; and his son Marvin Kim Howell.
He is survived by: his wife Yvonne Askew Howell; his children, Sharon Howell Silva of Chesapeake, VA and Glendon Howell of Chesapeake, VA; his granddaughters, Faith Howell (Mark Kim) of Chesapeake, Jessica Silva of Chesapeake, Erica Silva Jenkins (Justin) of Chesapeake and Amanda Howell Fleenor (Jimmy) of Gates; and his great grandchildren, Zachary Silva, Kyle, Thomas Kim, Lucy and Henry James Fleenor.
