He was predeceased by: his parents, William James Kelly and Edna Peterson Kelly; his wife Veda Merle Shipman Kelly; and his brothers, Larry and Kenneth.
He is survived by: his children, Stephanie Lynn Kelly Capps (Dewayne) of Benson, NC, William James "Jimmy" Kelly III (Christie) of King, NC, Gregory Stephen Kelly (Pam) of Erwin, NC and Phillip Travis Kelly (Stefanie) of Benson, NC; and his sister Nellie Kelly Yancy of Wake Forest, NC. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
