He is survived by: his wife Lucy Mae Overby McLean; his children, Joe F. McLean, Jr. (Hester), Jerome K. McLean, Sr., Michael L. McLean, Sr. (Karen), Reuben L. McLean (Eva), Doris McLean Bates (Charles), Rebecca McLean Barber (William), Davey R. McLean, Henry D. McLean (Jessica) and Ruth McLean Chapman (Elijah); and his stepchildren, Dorothy Overby Williams (Anthony), Jeanette Overby Keyes (Kenneth) and Dion Overby. He is also survived by 28 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The funeral service will be conducted Thursday, December 2, 2021 at 1:00 pm at the Cape Fear A Conference Headquarters, 25 Beaver Road, Erwin, with masks required and following the facility's guidelines for entrance, capacity, and social distancing.
