He was predeceased by: his parents, Benjamin Earl Stewart and Millie Stewart; his stepmother Mary McDonald Stewart; his sister Blanche McLean; and his stepsister Lucy McDonald Emery.
He is survived by: his wife Della Jackson Stewart; his son Gray Stewart (Jan) of Cary; his grandchildren, Mason Stewart and Morgan Stewart; and his nieces and nephews, Marsha Ingalls, Ann Hancock, Trisha Westbrook, Edie Wood, Karen Burns, Bobby McLamb and Donald McLamb.
