It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Donald Alwyn Byrd of Erwin, North Carolina, who passed away on April 11, 2025, at the age of 78, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Cornelius Bright Byrd and Vida Lenora Godwin Byrd; his wife Melba; and his siblings, Lindsey Byrd, Ervin Byrd, Weldon Byrd, Elva Melton and Jean Jobe.
He is survived by: his daughter Delia McMillan; his grandson Josh McMillan (Ashley); his great grandchildren, Gunner Cadwin McMillan and Rhett Alwyn McMillan; and his brother Reverend Kenneth Bright Byrd. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, April 16th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Dunn Funeral Home of Erwin (904 Lucas St, Erwin, NC 28339). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, April 16th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
