He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Walter and Novella Vera McMillan Strickland; his son Robert Strickland; and his siblings, Thomas, Billy Strickland and Bettie Ann Strickland.
He is survived by: his daughter Kelly S. Carter; his granddaughter Paige Carter; his great grandchildren, Aiden, Isaac and Abel; his granddaughter Julia Norris (Darren); his great grandchildren, Dakota, Sarah-Kate and Jonah of Tennessee; his granddaughter Taylor Strickland (Frank Anderson); his great grandchildren, Will and Ethan Turner of Fuquay-Varina; and his sister Patsy Stewart (Wilbert) of Wade. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
