He is survived by: his wife Carrie Surles; his daughters, Betty (Thomas) of Angier, Annie Person (Christopher) of Spring Lake, Estelle Smith (Tony) of Coats, Bobbie Wynn (Reginald) of Erwin and Carol "Christina" of Coats; his goddaughter Macy Woods (Corey) of Lillington; and his siblings, Glenn Edward Surles of Raleigh and Beatrice McEachern of Fuquay-Varina. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, seven great granchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
