We are sad to announce that on January 14, 2023, at the age of 86, Annie Ruth Core Matthews of Erwin, North Carolina passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her father Earnie B. Core; her siblings, Alton, Jack, Earl, Charles Core, Louise Core and Carolyn Spell; and her daughter-in-law Barbara Baker Matthews.

She is survived by: her husband Billy Matthews; her children, Sherwood Allen Matthews (Kay) and Sherry M. Gupton (Allen) of Erwin; her grandchildren, Bridget Pollard (Keith), Casey Townsend (Brandon), Matthew Gupton (Sun) and April Gupton; and her great grandchild Tiffany Gupton.
