As James departs from this earthly realm, his essence lingers — a whisper on the wind, a ripple on the water — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of life and death. Though James may no longer walk beside us, his spirit lives on in the memories and the legacy James leaves behind.
He was predeceased by: his parents, James Brett and Rebecca Brett; and his daughter Rene'Brett Pennington. He is survived by: his wife Terri Pippin Brett; his daughter Betsy Brett Williams (Brandon); his grandchildren, Brett Pennington and Gracie Williams; and his sister Betty Brett Harrelle. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Saturday, January 18th 2025 from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM at the Tarboro High School (1400 W Howard Ave, Tarboro, NC 27886). A celebration of life was held on Saturday, January 18th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Saturday, January 18th 2025 at 3:30 PM at the Ahoskie Cemetery (1500 1st St W, Conover, NC 28613).
He was deeply moved and appreciative of these honors bestowed upon him for his contributions to high school athletics.
