He was predeceased by: his spouse Shirley Ann Love Godwin; his parents, Paul Godwin and Thelma Strickland Godwin Morrison; his grandchild Michael Robert "Bobby" Jones; and his sister Mildred Estelle Godwin Evans.
He is survived by: his daughters, Linda G. Jones of Graham and Victoria Godwin of Louisburg; his siblings, Frankie Mendenhall (Larry) of Florida, Josephine Tew of Burlington, Joseph Lindell Godwin (Shirley) of Ohio and Edward Wayne Godwin (Pam) of Burlington; his grandchildren, Steve Fisher, Jr. and Holly Christine Jones; and his great grandchild Harley Fisher.
