He was predeceased by: his parents, George Wesley and Annie Pearl Inscoe Harper. He is survived by: his wife Martha Lou Foster Harper; his son David Harper (LaMonica); his grandchildren, Makena and Eli of Burlington; his brother Andrew Thomas Harper of Spring Hope; and also Henderson.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Elon Community Church UCC, Elon, NC 27244.
