He was predeceased by: his parents, Berry Simmons of Washington and Bertha Minor Simmons; and his siblings, William, Robert, Elbridge Simmons, Hattie Smith and Edna Faison.
He is survived by: his wife Didama Hooper Simmons; his daughter Connie Kimrey (Ray); his siblings, Brodie Simmons (Irene), Lottie Tate, Verdie Rice and Mona Busick; and his sister-in-law Wanda Simmons. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
