It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Betty Simpson Boone of Elon, North Carolina, who passed away on January 26, 2024, at the age of 95, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her former husband Gene Boone; and her brothers, Nathan McCray Simpson, Boyd Allen Simpson and Mack Dwight Simpson. She is survived by: her children, Teresa Boone (Mark Sumerford) of Greensboro and Mac Boone (Tessa) of High Point; her grandchildren, Betsy Sumerford (Jesse Akman), Luke Sumerford (Jessica Blanks), Alyson Wyche (Sherry) and Marcus Boone; her great grandchildren, McCray Wyche and Webb Wyche; and her sisters, Iris Simpson Workman of Burlington and Peggy Simpson Foster of Elon. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
