It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Rodney Ray Gardner of Elm City, North Carolina, who passed away on January 21, 2025, at the age of 57, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Grace Gardner and Leland Gardner; his siblings, Rhonda Faye and Jesse Gardner; and his niece Teri Summerlin.
He is survived by: his wife Joy Gardner; his daughters, Amber Gardner and Leslie Lauren Robbins; his son-in-law Miller; his stepchild Mallory Walston (Aaron); his stepgrandchildren, Luke and Chase; his stepson Brian Glover (Janie); his stepgranddaughter Liza Grace; his stepchild Lynn Summerlin (Johnny); his brother Brian "Peanut" Gardner (Beck); and his nieces and nephews, Wayne Summerlin (Christy), Brad Gardner (Kim), Travis Wethington (Mandy), Danielle Hoerter (Ryan), Kerry Shankle (David) and Jeslyn Bunn (Austin). He is also survived by many cousins, great nieces, and great nephews.
A celebration of life was held on Monday, January 27th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 6:30 PM at the Joyner's Funeral Home (4100 Raleigh Rd Pkwy W, Wilson, NC 27896). Visitation was held on Monday, January 27th 2025 at 6:30 PM at the same location.
