He was predeceased by: his parents, Lonnie Whitley and Geneva Whitley Glover; and his brother Bill Whitley. He is survived by: his wife Kay Jenkins Whitley; his son Michael Scott Whitley (Kim) of Wilson; his granddaughter Sarah Whitley (Austin) of Wilson; his stepson Michael May of Wilson; and his siblings, Ruth Lancaster of Wilson, Tony Whitley (Bonnie) of Wilson and Donald Whitley of Rocky Mount.
