He was predeceased by: his parents, William Jefferson and Mattie French Allred Covington; his former wife Shirley McFayden Covington; and his siblings, Bob Covington, Sara Key and Ralph Covington.
He is survived by: his spouse Marion Smith Covington; his children, Thomas E. Covington (Belda) and Dianne Covington McGreevy (Chris); his stepchildren, Richard Smith (Jane) and Branson Smith; his grandchildren, Lauren McGreevy Nisbett (Ted) and Katherine Grace McGreevy (Diego); and his great grandchildren, Rose Covington Nisbett, Teddy Christopher Nisbett and Jack Walton Nisbett.
