He is survived by: his wife Sara Thompson Covington; his daughters, Susan Caviness of Bonlee, Jane Smith (Richard) of Ellerbe, Jean Fletcher (Fred) of Ellerbe, Becky Hawkins (Keith) of Rockingham and Thomasa McInnis (Dale) of Rockingham; his stepsons, David Thompson (Janis) of Greensboro and Dan Thompson (Lori) of Ft. Worth, Texas.; his grandchildren, Trisha Caviness, Beth Deberry, Aaron Richardson (Melissa), Victoria Bolger (George), Caleb Smith (Ayrika), Ryan McInnis (Caitlin), Michael Fletcher and Kayla Hawkins; his stepgrandchildren, Ernest Thompson, Catherine Thompson, Cody Thompson (Chistina) and Tyler Thompson; his great grandchildren, Emma Reese Balance, Weslynn Marth Bliss, Lelia Kate Deberry, Clyde Smith, Cleo Smith and Drew Richardson; his stepgreat-grandchildren, James Thompson and Everly Thompson; and his caregiver Esmerelda Rodriguez.
