He was predeceased by: his parents, Everett Clarence Carpenter and Williemetto Fite Carpenter; and his siblings, C. O., Everett Jr., Charlie, Harvey Carpenter, Elaine Connor and Joann Cook.
He is survived by: his wife Geraldine Sams Carpenter; his children, Tammy Scruggs (Todd) of Ellenboro and Reggie Carpenter (Robin) of Caroleen; his sister Darcus Revels (Gerald) of Forest City; and his grandchildren, Preston Scruggs (Kinsey Williams), Dylan Scruggs, Zach Scruggs, Brett Carpenter and Chase Carpenter.
