He is survived by: his siblings, James Monroe Shires of Ellenboro and Nancy Hoyle of Forest City; his children, Beatrice Shires of Ellenboro, Timothy Shires of Lincolnton and Eric Shires of Lincolnton; and his grandchildren, Candis Shires, Amber Shires, Kailey Morganelli, Railyn Wilson, Caleb Shires, Beau Sifferlen and Mason Shires.
