He was predeceased by: his parents, N. C. Melton and Ola Murray Melton; his wife Catherine Toney Melton; and his brothers, Chivous Melton, Joe Melton and Bill Melton.
He is survived by: his children, Phillip Melton (Judy) of Bostic, Greg Melton of Ellenboro and Melissa Melton Lincoln (David) of Moore; his brother Jimmy Melton (Norma Kay) of Ellenboro; his grandchildren, Justin Melton, Michael Melton (Jenny), Alysa McGinnis and Destiny Lincoln; and his great grandchild Olivia Melton.
