He was predeceased by: his parents, Alice Courtney Gwyn and Nathan Hunt Gwyn; his wife Laura Moore Gwyn; his daughter Alice Gwyn Heusel; and his brothers, Nathan Hunt Gwyn and Rufus Courtney Gwyn.

He is survived by: his sons, Tom Gwyn, Jr. (Mary) and Will Gwyn (Lori); and his son-in-law George Heusel (late Alice Gwyn Heusel).
